Cascade-chipita Park, Colorado Cascade and Chipita Park are two unicorporated towns near Colorado Springs. Perched astride the rugged Ute Pass and grouped together for the purposes of the U.S. census, the two communities are otherwise distinct in history and character. Named for its many waterfalls, Cascade was first established in 1886. In 1889, the Pikes Peak carriage road was constructed from Cascade to the top of Pikes Peak. Once a rough-and-tumble mining town, Cascade today offers restaurants, cozy bed-and-breakfasts and the popular Santa’s Workshop.
Originally inhabited by Ute Indians, the village of Chipita Park is named for the wife of the great Chief Ouray. With an area of more than 100,000 square miles, Colorado's vast expanse is home to a striking variety of wildlife and natural scenery. At 14,440 feet, the summit of Mount Elbert is the highest point in both the state Colorado and the entire Rocky Mountain range. Climate
Seasonal temperatures in Colorado vary widely by region. Generally speaking, the Eastern Plains are quite sunny and dry, with temperatures frequently exceeding 100°F in the summer months. The Front Range Urban Corridor, Home to most of Colorado's residents, experiences relatively mild winters, with daytime highs in the forties, though temperatures can plummet to single digits at night. Summers in the region are hot, with daytime highs near 90°F in July, though the dry air moderates the heat somewhat. Residents and visitors alike should be prepared for abrupt temperature changes, as conditions can vary greatly within the course of a day.

Colorado's capital is Denver, which lies in the South Platte River Valley in the north-central region of the state.
